Truckee, CA Public Art Funding Sources Study
Public art plays a powerful role in defining a community, sharing its values, engaging residents and visitors, and enriching civic spaces. The Town of Truckee, California, recognizes the transformative value of public art and has played a key role in creating or incentivizing public art projects around the Town. These efforts have resulted in an impressive public art collection with varied materials, themes, and locations. Importantly, it has also resulted in a desire on behalf of Town leadership to develop its public art collection further and to continue integrating art into Truckee’s public spaces.
This Public Art Program Funding Strategy Study examines several potential public and private funding sources for a public art program, all of which are rooted in established practices of public art programs across the country. Each potential funding source is explained, its required administrative supports are outlined, and its potential funding yield is estimated based on an analysis of data from the Town. This study seeks to be a tool to develop a resilient and dynamic set of public art funding strategies to ensure that public art in Truckee continues to grow and thrive.
