Featured Project Management: City approval process for installation of Deborah Kass’ OY/YO Sculpture

Client: The Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History

Date: 2021

The Weitzman wanted to temporarily locate Deborah Kass’ sculpture, OY/YO in front of the museum as part of its re-opening celebration after being closed during COVID. Even a temporary installation of the sculpture required navigating Philadelphia’s municipal approval process, including reviews from the Streets Department, SEPTA and the Art Commission. The project was shepherded through the required reviews, while building awareness of and enthusiasm for the project. The project was approved in time for the grand-reopening and has quickly become a must-see stop on a tour of Philadelphia’s public art treasures.
